What are some of the best ideas for a homecoming dance/bonfire?

What are some ideas your school had that were really fun and you thought were neat? I'm planning the dance and bonfire with some other people and we need a theme and fun ideas. Our mascot is the Norseman, which is pretty much a viking. So, favorite memories?
